When I first came across Zilicus and the host of features it offered for project management needs, I couldn’t help but think the platform had evolved far beyond just an online project management tool, and into a whip-carrying project manager and lord overseer of projects great and small. With ZilicusPM what you get is military-like efficiency and planning, with the ease and familiarity we’ve come to expect of great platforms. For anyone that’s spearheaded a group as project manager, you’ll know of the inevitable project gremlins that pop up to launch boulder-sized monkey wrenches to thwart your progress. Zilicus understand this, as well as the devastating effect it has on delivery and reputation.

Most project management tools targeted at small businesses tend to scrimp on features due to restricted budgets. However, ZilicusPM packs essential features for a project lifecycle management cycle into the solution at an affordable cost. For example, in addition to performing regular tasks such as a work breakdown structure, project schedules, establish tasks dependency, and assigning resources, you can also manage issues, risks, timesheet and project documents. This means that instead of using multiple tools (and managing associated APIs), you can work within the framework of a single tool. What’s more, you can generate reports, add multiple projects to your portfolio, and customize it for your need. n fact, high level overview or big picture seems to be the mantra across the system’s features. For example, you can add organizational access and privileges based on an organogram of your company. Part of the headache of managing projects is figuring out access levels and privilege. Added to that is the complexity of managing dynamic permissions and access levels that might result in mismatches and errors between a person’s offline and system roles. The organogram solves this problem by replicating offline organizational structure into system roles. This can be an especially useful feature, in cases where multiple projects are involved because it simplifies the process of assigning roles and permissions.

The User Interface is very nice, with lot of icons to make it easy to find whatever you are looking for. It is quite intuitive to use. The logic behind it is - like in many other project management applications – main entity is the project and tasks, calendar, issues etc. are assigned to a particular project. The reports and resource can be view over all projects of course. The Home page sums up all your assigned tasks, issues, overall status of projects etc. which makes it easy to see what need to be done until when.

I'm not sure that I've seen a business project management application that is quite as in-depth as ZilicusPM.
